Karachi’s Karimabad Underpass Project Gets New Completion Timeline

The Karachi Development Authority (KDA) has announced a revised completion date for the long-delayed Karimabad Underpass project. Authorities now expect the underpass to be finished by April, offering renewed hope for improved traffic flow in the busy area.

Director General Asif Jan Siddiqui stated that the underpass is expected to open approximately two weeks after Eid-ul-Fitr. The project originally commenced on December 30, 2023, and was initially planned to be completed within a year. Delays in construction have pushed back the original timeline multiple times, prompting repeated updates from the KDA.

The Karimabad underpass is designed to ease traffic congestion at one of Karachi’s busiest intersections, providing a smoother flow for commuters traveling through the locality. Once completed, the underpass will connect key roads and reduce travel times for daily commuters.

Authorities have assured that construction will continue at an accelerated pace to meet the updated timeline. They emphasized that safety standards and quality checks will remain a priority as work progresses toward completion.

The KDA has faced criticism in the past over repeated delays, but officials are optimistic that the new target date will finally mark the opening of the much-anticipated underpass. Residents and local commuters are closely watching developments, hopeful for a functional and modern traffic solution.
