The 2nd Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) International Sailing Regatta 2025 was officially inaugurated today by Commander Karachi, Vice Admiral Muhammad Faisal Abbasi, at PNS Rahbar, Karachi. The event, which runs from September 23 to 27, has brought together nineteen sailors representing Egypt, Iran, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and host nation Pakistan.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Chief Guest warmly welcomed the international athletes and officials, acknowledging their enthusiastic participation. He emphasized that sports, especially sailing, play a vital role in fostering peace, promoting international cooperation, and raising maritime awareness. He further noted that the Pakistan Navy remains committed to strengthening both regional and global ties through such sporting events.

The championship features competitive races in three main categories: Laser Standard/ILCA 7, Laser Radial/ILCA 6, and Windsurfing RSX. Karachi Harbour provides the backdrop for the five-day regatta, offering a world-class stage for participants to demonstrate their skills in demanding water conditions. The competition not only showcases talent but also highlights the potential of Pakistan’s coastal waters as a hub for international water sports.

The opening ceremony drew a diverse audience, including serving and retired officers of the Pakistan Navy, civil dignitaries, event organizers, sponsors, sportsmen, and members of the media. Their presence reflected the importance of the event in promoting both national pride and international friendship.

Events like the CNS International Sailing Regatta also help inspire local youth to engage with water sports, an area that holds immense potential in Pakistan’s sporting landscape. By bringing together athletes from across Asia, the regatta demonstrates how maritime sports can bridge cultures and foster a sense of global unity.

The successful hosting of this event further cements Pakistan’s reputation as an emerging destination for international sporting competitions, while underlining the Navy’s mission to promote peace through sports and maritime cooperation.
