Pakistan’s pace spearhead Haris Rauf has been medically cleared after recovering from a hamstring injury that sidelined him for several weeks. His return to training comes at a crucial time as the national team gears up for a T20I series against the West Indies in August.
Rauf sustained the injury while participating in the Major League Cricket competition abroad. Team doctors immediately recommended a rest period of two weeks, effectively ruling him out of the Bangladesh series beginning July 20.
Now back to full fitness, Rauf is expected to be a key contender for selection in the West Indies series, which is widely seen as part of Pakistan’s broader strategy for the 2026 T20 World Cup.
Team sources say Rauf has returned to bowling in nets at near full pace and has responded well to physiotherapy and fitness sessions. His presence is particularly valued for his death-over expertise and knack for breaking partnerships under pressure.
Pakistan’s head coach and selectors will be watching closely in the coming days as final squad preparations are made. With Rauf available again, Pakistan will be hoping to reassert its bowling strength, particularly in overseas conditions.
This series also presents an opportunity for Rauf to regain momentum and rhythm after a brief break, as the team narrows down its lineup for cricket’s biggest T20 event.
