Cricket’s most intense rivalry is set to ignite once again as Pakistan and India are scheduled to face off on September 7 in the Asia Cup 2025, now officially confirmed to be held in the United Arab Emirates.
Despite initial rumors of a cancellation due to political tensions following the Pahalgam incident, the tournament will go ahead as planned. The competition is expected to start on September 4 or 5, adopting the T20 format, and will kick off with a group stage followed by the Super Four round.
There’s a strong possibility of more than one meeting between the two sides. Should both Pakistan and India qualify for the Super Four stage, a second showdown is expected on September 14, with a potential final on September 21.
While India holds the official hosting rights, security concerns have led to the event being relocated to the UAE. Nevertheless, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will retain administrative and commercial hosting privileges.
An Indian broadcaster confirmed participation, emphasizing the significance of media rights tied to high-profile matches like Pakistan vs India. The match remains a crucial event for broadcasters, sponsors, and fans alike.
The last face-off between the two cricketing giants took place during the Champions Trophy 2025, also in Dubai. Since 2008, India has opted not to tour Pakistan, making neutral venues a recurring theme for bilateral matches.
Cricket lovers worldwide are now counting down to what promises to be one of the most-watched sporting events of the year.
