North Nazimabad Block B Declared Load-Shedding Free: KE Expands Relief Across Karachi

In a significant move aimed at enhancing electricity delivery, K-Electric (KE) has officially added North Nazimabad Block B to its list of load-shedding-exempt areas, effective immediately.

This marks the end of extended power outages of up to 10 hours per day for more than 1,600 local customers, who will now benefit from round-the-clock electricity.

This advancement follows KE’s May review, which led to the inclusion of several Karachi neighborhoods in its exemption plan. Recent upgrades have already been implemented in localities such as North Karachi’s Sectors 5-C3, 5-C4, and 11-A, as well as Manghopir Road and Nusrat Bhutto Morh.

The utility credits the milestone to a robust technical intervention aimed at mitigating Aggregated Technical and Commercial (AT&C) losses, a persistent challenge in regions plagued by power theft and billing issues.

KE’s official statement reads:

“We are delivering on our commitment to provide sustainable and equitable electricity access. This exemption is not just a technical upgrade but a result of improved area performance and customer collaboration.”

The load-shedding exemption also reflects a shift toward a performance-based supply model, where neighborhoods showing improved billing and reduced losses are prioritized for uninterrupted service.

In addition to network restructuring, KE continues to conduct awareness campaigns and encourages legal electricity use. The utility maintains that customer cooperation is vital to sustaining these upgrades.

As Karachi heads into peak summer months, this relief brings welcome news to residents and sets a positive precedent for other neighborhoods striving for exemption status.
