Syed Murad Ali Shah has begun his third consecutive term as Chief Minister of Sindh. He officially took the oath of office at a ceremony in the Governor House on Tuesday. Governor Kamran Tessori led the ceremony, which included Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and other prominent members of the PPP.
Shah won the chief minister election with an impressive 112 votes out of 148. While his opponent, MQM-P candidate Ali Khurshidi, received 36 votes, members of the Jamat-i-Islami (JI) and the Sunni Ittehad Council (including independent candidates backed by the PTI) chose not to participate in the vote.
Experienced Leadership
Shah, a seasoned politician, has a strong track record of leadership. Born in Sehwan Sharif, Sindh, he brings both engineering and political experience to his role. After graduating from NED University as a civil engineer, he pursued further studies in the United States, specializing in structural and economic engineering.
He played pivotal roles in Sindh’s government before his first term as Chief Minister in 2016, including serving as the province’s irrigation, energy, and finance minister.
