Karachi Police Introduce Child Safety Guidelines for Schools and Seminaries

New Safety Measures Amid Rising Kidnapping Cases

With a sharp increase in child kidnapping incidents in Karachi, the city’s police department has released an urgent advisory for schools and seminaries (madrasas). These safety protocols aim to ensure the protection of children and prevent further such crimes.

Guidelines for Parents and Institutions

The police directive emphasizes that children should only leave school premises with their parents or guardians. It strongly discourages parents from allowing their children to travel to schools or seminaries alone, urging them to arrange supervised commutes for added safety.

Terrifying Incident in Bhatai Colony

This advisory comes after a shocking kidnapping attempt in Korangi’s Bhatai Colony. CCTV footage from Sector D captured the incident, showing a woman walking with a young girl when two men on a motorcycle approached.

One of the assailants dismounted and attempted to grab the child, but the girl’s quick thinking saved her. Both she and the woman accompanying her shouted for help, scaring the kidnappers into fleeing.

Police Investigations Underway

The Korangi police have launched an investigation based on the victim’s family’s statement. SSP Korangi has assured that legal action is being taken to track down the suspects. Reports reveal that the kidnapper threatened the girl, warning her of harm if she didn’t cooperate.

Concerns Over Unresolved Cases

Despite these measures, questions about police efficiency remain. Recent cases, including the abduction and tragic death of a boy named Sarim in New Karachi, highlight the gaps in law enforcement.

Additionally, the Garden West kidnapping case involving 5-year-old Aaliyan and 6-year-old Ali remains unresolved. CCTV footage shows a man and woman on a motorcycle with the children, who appear semi-conscious. The police are still searching for the suspects, leaving families across Karachi deeply concerned.
