Karachi’s Murghi Khana Flyover Temporarily Closed for Malir Expressway Work

The Karachi Traffic Police has announced a temporary closure of the Murghi Khana Flyover (N-5) at the Qaidabad Interchange due to girder launching work for the ongoing Malir Expressway (Shaheed Benazir Bhutto) project.

Authorities have confirmed that the flyover will remain closed in both directions for public safety and smooth execution of construction activities. The suspension will be in effect from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm on January 3 and January 4, 2026.

Commuters are advised to plan alternative routes and exercise caution while traveling in the Qaidabad area during this period. Traffic management teams will be deployed to guide vehicles and reduce congestion in surrounding areas.

The Malir Expressway project, also known as the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Expressway, aims to improve connectivity across Karachi and reduce travel time for commuters. The ongoing construction activities, including girder launching, are crucial steps toward completing this major infrastructure initiative.

Officials urge citizens to follow traffic instructions, stay updated through local news, and allow extra time for travel to avoid delays. Temporary inconveniences are expected as part of the city’s efforts to enhance urban infrastructure and traffic flow.
