The Lahore High Court has revised its previously announced Eid ul Azha holiday schedule for courts across Punjab, making an adjustment that includes an additional holiday period compared to the earlier notification.
According to an official notification issued on May 21, the revised schedule now confirms that Eid ul Azha holidays for the judiciary will be observed from May 26 to May 28, instead of the earlier announced dates of May 27 and May 28.
The change effectively adds an extra holiday day, extending the break for court operations across the province. The updated schedule applies to all relevant court proceedings and judicial offices operating under the jurisdiction of the Lahore High Court.
The revision comes as part of routine administrative adjustments made ahead of major religious holidays such as Eid ul Azha, which is widely observed across Pakistan with court closures and reduced government operations during the festive period.
Eid ul Azha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, typically results in nationwide public holidays, affecting judicial schedules, government offices, and private sector operations. The updated court holiday schedule ensures alignment with broader provincial and national observances.
Legal experts note that such adjustments are common in Pakistan’s judicial system, especially when public holiday notifications are updated close to the Eid period. Courts generally coordinate their schedules with federal and provincial holiday announcements to avoid procedural disruptions.
With the revised schedule in place, court proceedings are expected to resume after the Eid holidays, following the official reopening dates issued by the judiciary.
