Heavy Rain and Thunderstorms Forecast Across Pakistan in Coming Week

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a fresh weather advisory predicting widespread rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms across multiple regions of the country in the coming days. The change in weather is attributed to a new western disturbance expected to enter parts of Balochistan on the evening of April 5 and persist in upper regions until April 9.

According to the forecast, several علاقوں of Balochistan including Quetta, Chaman, Zhob, Khuzdar, and Mastung are likely to experience rain and thunderstorms between April 5 (night) and April 7 (morning), with occasional breaks. Coastal areas such as Gwadar, Pasni, and Ormara may also receive rainfall on April 6, accompanied by gusty winds.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, widespread rain and thunderstorms are expected from April 6 to April 9, affecting regions including Peshawar, Swat, Abbottabad, Mansehra, and Chitral. Snowfall is also likely over mountainous areas, while heavy rain and isolated hailstorms may occur on April 7 and 8.

Punjab and Islamabad are also set to experience significant weather activity. Cities such as Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, and Sialkot may see rain and thunderstorms from the evening of April 6 through April 9. The Pothohar region and upper districts are particularly at risk of heavy rainfall and hailstorms during April 7 and 8.

Sindh is expected to receive scattered rainfall, with areas including Sukkur, Larkana, Hyderabad, and Karachi likely to witness thunderstorms on April 6. Some علاقوں may experience moderate rain along with isolated hailstorms, bringing temporary relief from rising temperatures.

Meanwhile, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir are forecast to receive moderate to heavy rainfall along with snowfall in mountainous regions from April 5 (night) to April 9. مناطق such as Skardu, Hunza, Muzaffarabad, and Neelum Valley may experience intense weather conditions during this period.

Authorities have advised citizens to remain cautious, particularly in areas prone to flooding, landslides, or urban waterlogging. Travelers and residents in mountainous regions are urged to stay updated with weather advisories as conditions may change rapidly.

As the system moves across the country, it is expected to bring both relief from heat and potential disruptions, making preparedness essential for the days ahead.
