Authorities Issue Warnings as Heavy Rainfall Hits Karachi and Sindh

Karachi and parts of Sindh experienced heavy rainfall early Thursday as a new western weather system moved into the region. The sudden showers brought cooler temperatures but also caused disruptions to daily life, affecting traffic and commuting routines across the city.

Dark clouds blanketed Karachi during the early hours, followed by steady rain in several key areas. Commuters faced challenges reaching offices and educational institutions, while local authorities advised caution on major roads.

Rainfall was reported in multiple localities, including Defense, Saddar, Keamari, Clifton, Shahrah-e-Faisal, Malir, Gulistan-e-Johar, Tariq Road, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Met Complex, and Baldia. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has urged residents to stay alert as more showers are expected in the coming hours.

The PMD confirmed that the western weather system is gradually entering Pakistan through Balochistan, bringing wet conditions to Sindh and parts of southern Punjab. Officials warned that the intensity of rainfall could increase, potentially leading to waterlogging in low-lying areas and traffic delays.

Authorities have advised motorists and pedestrians to exercise caution, avoid unnecessary travel, and follow safety guidelines issued by local disaster management teams. Schools and office-goers are urged to plan accordingly as the weather system continues to affect normal routines.

This rainfall event is part of seasonal weather patterns influenced by western disturbances, which typically bring cooler temperatures and intermittent showers across the region. Residents are encouraged to stay updated through official PMD notifications to ensure safety and minimize disruptions.
