The Sindh government has introduced a new restriction at Jinnah International Airport, limiting the number of individuals accompanying a passenger for pick and drop to a maximum of two people.
The decision was taken during a high-level meeting on security threats chaired by the provincial home minister. Authorities reviewed the overall security environment and assessed precautionary measures in light of past incidents and accidents.
Senior officials, including the Home Secretary and the Inspector General of Sindh Police, attended the session. They briefed the minister on the prevailing security situation and ongoing enforcement strategies.
Officials stated that the restriction is aimed at improving crowd management and reducing congestion at entry and exit points. Large gatherings at airport premises have previously created operational challenges for security personnel.
The home minister emphasized that strict measures are necessary to prevent untoward incidents. He directed law enforcement agencies to ensure effective implementation of the new rule and maintain heightened vigilance.
Under the updated policy, only two individuals will be allowed to accompany a traveler inside designated pick and drop zones. Authorities are expected to enforce the restriction through coordinated monitoring and on-ground supervision.
Airport security arrangements are likely to remain under continuous review. Officials indicated that further adjustments may be introduced depending on the evolving security landscape.
The move reflects the provincial government’s focus on preventive security and public safety. Travelers have been advised to cooperate with authorities and plan their airport visits accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
