A new train service aimed at improving regional connectivity in Sindh is expected to begin operations within the coming weeks, offering passengers a more convenient travel option between Sukkur, Rohri, and Shikarpur.
The upcoming service, named the “Ho Jamalo” train, was announced during a visit to Sukkur Railway Station by Syed Kumail Hyder Shah. During the visit, officials reviewed operational arrangements and preparations ahead of the train’s official launch.
According to railway authorities, the train will depart from the Rohri locoshed and operate between Rohri and Shikarpur. Multiple railway stations along the route will also be included as stoppages to facilitate daily commuters and travelers from nearby areas.
The announcement has generated interest among residents who have long awaited improved transportation services between the major cities and surrounding districts. Many commuters currently rely on road transport, which can often become congested and time-consuming during peak hours.
In addition to the train project, authorities have also confirmed plans to introduce an e-coaster transport service between Sukkur and Pano Aqil. The initiative is expected to improve local commuting options and provide more affordable and efficient travel facilities for passengers.
Officials believe the combined launch of railway and road transport services could help strengthen regional mobility, support local businesses, and make travel easier for students, workers, and families living in nearby towns.
The “Ho Jamalo” train service is also being viewed as an effort to revive rail connectivity in parts of interior Sindh where residents have repeatedly demanded better public transport infrastructure.
Railway officials say the operational schedule, ticket pricing, and exact launch date will likely be announced in the coming days once final preparations are completed. Authorities are also reportedly inspecting station facilities and technical operations to ensure smooth service at the time of launch.
The new transport projects are expected to benefit thousands of daily passengers who travel between Sukkur, Rohri, Shikarpur, and Pano Aqil for work, education, and commercial activities.
Public transport experts have often highlighted the importance of expanding railway services in Pakistan to reduce pressure on roads, lower travel costs, and improve connectivity between urban and semi-urban areas.
The launch of the “Ho Jamalo” train could therefore become a significant development for local transportation in Sindh if the service operates regularly and meets commuter expectations.
