In a proactive move to improve road safety standards, foodpanda partnered with the Karachi Traffic Police to conduct a detailed traffic awareness workshop at its Karachi head office. The initiative was carried out under the directives of senior officials, including SSP East Amjad Hayat, reflecting a coordinated effort to address rising road safety concerns in the city.
The session was led by SI Masood Ahmed from the Tariq Road Traffic Section, who provided delivery riders with practical insights into traffic laws and responsible riding practices. With Karachi’s roads becoming increasingly congested, the program aimed to equip riders with the knowledge needed to reduce risks and ensure compliance with provincial regulations.
During the workshop, participants were educated on key safety measures that are essential for everyday commuting. These included the mandatory use of helmets for both riders and pillion passengers, maintaining motorcycles in proper working condition, and ensuring that all vehicles carry original number plates. Riders were also encouraged to regularly check mirrors and chain covers to prevent avoidable accidents.

The training placed significant emphasis on behavioral changes that can improve road discipline. Riders were cautioned against overspeeding and violating one-way traffic rules—two of the most common causes of accidents in urban areas. Additionally, guidance was provided on navigating around heavy vehicles, particularly understanding blind spots that often pose serious hazards to motorcyclists.
Another important aspect of the session focused on passenger safety, especially for female riders. Participants were advised on how to prevent clothing-related accidents, which can occur when loose garments get caught in motorcycle parts. This highlighted the broader approach of the initiative, extending safety awareness beyond just the rider.
The workshop also introduced participants to the faceless e-challan system, a modern traffic enforcement mechanism designed to streamline violation tracking and penalties. Riders were briefed on how this technology works and why adhering to traffic laws is more important than ever in a digitally monitored environment.
This collaboration underscores foodpanda’s ongoing commitment to rider welfare and operational responsibility. By working closely with local authorities, the company aims to foster a culture of safety, accountability, and awareness among its delivery partners.
As urban mobility continues to evolve, such initiatives play a crucial role in reducing accidents and promoting safer roads across Karachi.
