The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has established a dedicated tax facilitation center in Karachi to provide businesses with easier access to digital tax services and technical support. The initiative has been launched in response to directives from the Prime Minister of Pakistan and requests from the city’s business community seeking improved taxpayer assistance.
Operational since June 5, 2026, the new PRAL Front Desk has been set up at the Large Taxpayers Office (LTO) Karachi. The facility is designed to serve as a centralized support hub where taxpayers can receive guidance on a wide range of tax-related matters and digital services.
The center is being managed by a Chief of Inland Revenue Operations and supported by a specialized team from Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (PRAL). Equipped with modern IT infrastructure, the facility aims to streamline taxpayer interactions with the FBR and reduce challenges faced by businesses when using online tax systems.
According to officials, the one-stop facilitation desk will offer on-site assistance for issues related to the IRIS portal, tax registration, e-filing procedures, online tax payments, sales tax return submissions, refund processing, and other digital tax services. The goal is to ensure that taxpayers receive timely support and quick resolution of technical concerns.
Karachi, being Pakistan’s commercial and financial hub, is home to thousands of large and medium-sized businesses that regularly interact with the country’s tax administration system. The establishment of a dedicated support office is expected to improve service delivery and help businesses navigate tax compliance requirements more efficiently.
The initiative forms part of the FBR’s broader strategy to modernize tax administration through technology-driven solutions. By enhancing digital accessibility and providing direct technical assistance, authorities hope to encourage greater voluntary tax compliance and improve the overall taxpayer experience.
Business leaders have frequently emphasized the need for better support mechanisms, particularly as more tax-related services transition to digital platforms. Technical issues involving online filing systems and payment portals can often delay compliance processes, making dedicated assistance centers increasingly important.
The FBR believes that improving taxpayer facilitation is essential to building trust and strengthening the relationship between businesses and tax authorities. Officials have stated that the Karachi facilitation center reflects a commitment to creating a more transparent, responsive, and user-friendly tax environment.
As Pakistan continues its efforts to expand the use of digital governance tools, initiatives such as the PRAL Front Desk are expected to play a key role in simplifying tax procedures and improving operational efficiency for both taxpayers and government institutions.
The new facility marks another step toward modernizing Pakistan’s tax ecosystem while providing businesses with direct access to expert support for their day-to-day taxation needs.
