New Private Airline ‘Air Karachi’ Applies for Operational License

A new private airline, Air Karachi, has officially applied for a Regular Public Transport (RPT) license from the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) to commence domestic flight operations.

The approval process is currently underway, and the final decision will be made by the federal government before the airline can begin commercial flights.

Business Community Backs Air Karachi’s Launch

The airline’s formation has been backed by prominent business figures in Karachi, aiming to enhance air travel options within Pakistan. Businessman Hanif Gohar has revealed that Air Karachi is being launched with an initial investment of Rs. 5 billion, contributed by multiple shareholders.

Air Karachi’s Operational Plans and Leadership

  • CEO: The airline will be led by Retired Air Vice Marshal Imran, who brings extensive aviation experience to the venture.
  • Fleet: Air Karachi plans to lease three aircraft in its initial phase.
  • Key Investors: Some of Pakistan’s leading business personalities, including Aqeel Karim Dhedhi, Arif Habib, SM Tanveer, Bashir Jan Muhammad, Khalid Tawab, Zubair Tufail, and Hamza Tabani, are involved in the airline’s development.

Growing Competition in Pakistan’s Aviation Sector

The aviation industry in Pakistan is witnessing increased interest from private airlines. In September last year, several airlines, including Jet Green, Q Airways, and Go Green Air, also applied for operational licenses. Additionally, Air Indus, Q Aviation, and Liberty Air have expressed their intent to resume or launch flight operations.

According to PCAA officials, the growing number of license applications highlights Pakistan’s economic potential and demand for enhanced domestic air travel services.
