Karachi to Take Action Against Illegal Dumping of Animal Waste During Eid ul Adha

Authorities in Karachi have announced strict action against individuals found throwing or tearing apart sacrificial animal waste on roads, streets, and open public spaces during Eid ul Adha.

The decision was made during a high-level meeting held at the Commissioner Office Karachi, where officials reviewed arrangements for the collection, transportation, and disposal of animal remains during the upcoming religious festival.

Eid ul Adha typically leads to a significant increase in animal slaughter across the city, placing additional pressure on municipal services responsible for cleanliness and waste management. Authorities said the new measures aim to improve hygiene conditions and prevent environmental and public health risks associated with improper disposal.

Officials emphasized that dumping animal waste in open areas not only creates unpleasant conditions in residential neighborhoods but also contributes to the spread of foul odors, insects, and potential disease risks if not handled properly. The civic administration has urged citizens to cooperate by using designated disposal points.

According to the plan discussed in the meeting, sanitation teams will be deployed across Karachi’s major districts to ensure timely collection of animal remains. Special monitoring teams are also expected to be active during Eid days to identify violations and take immediate action where necessary.

The administration has also planned awareness campaigns encouraging residents to follow proper waste disposal guidelines. Citizens will be informed about designated collection points and schedules to ensure smoother operations during the busy festival period.

Eid ul Adha is one of the most significant religious occasions in Pakistan, with millions of animals sacrificed nationwide. In large urban centers like Karachi, managing the resulting waste becomes a major logistical challenge for municipal authorities every year.

Officials stated that enforcement measures will be supported by fines or legal action against individuals who deliberately violate cleanliness rules or ignore municipal instructions. The goal, they added, is not only punishment but also long-term improvement in civic responsibility.

Environmental experts have repeatedly stressed the importance of organized waste management during Eid to prevent contamination of water sources and public spaces. Proper disposal systems are considered essential for maintaining urban hygiene during the festival.

The Karachi administration has assured that all necessary resources will be mobilized to handle the increased waste load efficiently. Coordination between local bodies, waste management departments, and district officials is expected to play a key role in maintaining cleanliness throughout the city.

Authorities have appealed to citizens to support the initiative by cooperating with sanitation teams and avoiding irresponsible disposal practices that can harm the city’s environment and public health.
