For decades, updating CNIC details meant standing in queues at NADRA offices. Now, Pakistan’s citizens can complete the entire process from home with the upgraded Pak-ID mobile app.
This new system, running on version 4.4.3 of the application, integrates biometric verification, document uploads, and fee payments into a single streamlined process. Once approved, the updated CNIC is delivered straight to the applicant’s doorstep.
The transformation reflects NADRA’s broader strategy of embracing technology to improve accessibility and reduce administrative hurdles.
Digital Process in Detail
The procedure starts with downloading the Pak-ID app on Android or iOS. After registration, users confirm their identity using either fingerprint or facial recognition. From there, services such as modification, renewal, or reprint can be selected for themselves or family members.
Citizens then upload necessary documents by scanning or taking photos through the app. NADRA ensures security by encrypting user data and using safe digital channels for communication.
Payment and Delivery
Users can pay through multiple digital platforms including Easypaisa, JazzCash, debit/credit cards, or e-sahulat. This cashless system reduces reliance on physical offices while ensuring transparency.
The upgraded app does more than simplify CNIC modification. NADRA has also expanded its digital identity services to over 1,200 union councils nationwide, bringing government facilities closer to citizens.
Video tutorials are available inside the app to help first-time users navigate the system. This emphasis on digital literacy supports Pakistan’s move towards an e-governance model that saves time and resources.
By eliminating queues and making CNIC modification mobile-friendly, NADRA is reshaping the way essential services are delivered.
