The Sindh government has approved Phase-II of the Karachi Safe City Project, signaling a major step toward enhancing security infrastructure in Karachi. The initiative aims to expand surveillance capabilities using modern technology to improve law enforcement and public safety.
The approval was granted by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah during a high-level meeting attended by senior officials, including key representatives from the home department, police leadership, and administrative authorities. The decision reflects the provincial government’s continued focus on strengthening security systems in Pakistan’s largest city.
Under Phase-II of the project, authorities plan to install more than 2,300 smart surveillance cameras across strategic locations in Karachi. These cameras will be equipped with advanced features such as facial recognition, automated number plate recognition, and real-time monitoring to assist law enforcement agencies in crime prevention and rapid response.
The expanded network is expected to cover major roads, commercial zones, and sensitive areas, creating a more integrated and data-driven security framework. Officials believe that the use of smart technology will significantly improve the ability to track suspicious activities and enhance coordination between different security departments.
