Karachi Traffic Police has announced a special traffic management plan for 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal processions scheduled for Wednesday, August 26, 2026, with road diversions and alternative routes planned across several parts of the city.
The arrangements have been prepared to manage traffic movement during Eid Milad-un-Nabi processions and help commuters reach their destinations with minimum inconvenience. Traffic police personnel will be deployed at key diversion points to guide motorists.
Three major processions are scheduled in Karachi on Wednesday. One procession led by Maulana Yaqoob Attari will depart from Shaheed-e-Millat Masjid at around 2:30pm, while another procession led by Maulana Akbar Dars will leave Central Meethi Masjid at around the same time.
A third major procession, led by Maulana Shah Abdullah Qadri, is scheduled to depart at 3pm and proceed towards Nishtar Park, where it is expected to conclude around 6pm. A Milad-un-Nabi conference will also be held at Nishtar Park following the procession.
MA Jinnah Road will be closed to general traffic during the processions. Only vehicles carrying the required official stickers for participation in the processions will be permitted to enter the designated route.
Traffic police have also prepared alternative routes in the Central, East and South districts. Motorists travelling from Nazimabad can use Lasbela Chowk, Nishtar Road and Garden to reach their destinations.
Those travelling from Liaquatabad can use Teen Hatti and proceed towards Lasbela Chowk and Central Jail. Motorists travelling from Hasan Square towards Paposh Nagar have also been advised to use Kashmir Road, Society Light Signal, Shahrah-e-Quaideen and the Jail Flyover before proceeding towards Teen Hatti and Nishtar Road.
In District East, motorists travelling from Shahrah-e-Faisal towards Numaish can use Shahrah-e-Quaideen and turn towards Kashmir Road at Society Light Signal.
Traffic approaching Guru Mandir from Jamshed Road and the Central Jail area will also face diversions, with motorists directed towards alternative roads such as Bahadur Yar Jung Road and Soldier Bazaar.
In District South, traffic travelling from Garden Zoo towards MA Jinnah Road will be diverted through the Anarkali area, Gul Plaza and Coast Guard Road.
Vehicles travelling from Kemari towards MA Jinnah Road through Empress Market will also face diversions. Motorists will be directed from Saddar Dawakhana towards People’s Chowrangi.
The traffic plan also includes restrictions around Prince Road, Pakistan Chowk, Court Road and Kabutar Chowrangi. Motorists have been advised to follow instructions from traffic personnel and use designated alternative routes.
A ban on heavy and commercial traffic will also be enforced across Karachi on 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal. The restriction is intended to reduce congestion and facilitate the movement of processions and other traffic during the day.
Parking along the procession routes has been prohibited. Citizens have been advised not to leave vehicles on roads designated for the processions, as such parking could obstruct traffic and create additional difficulties for commuters.
Traffic police have urged citizens to plan their journeys in advance and avoid unnecessary travel along procession routes. Officers will remain present at diversion points to assist motorists and maintain traffic flow.
The special arrangements are particularly important because several major roads in central Karachi are expected to experience temporary closures and diversions throughout the procession period.
Citizens can also seek assistance and traffic updates through the Karachi Traffic Police helpline 1915. The department has advised commuters to cooperate with traffic personnel and follow the announced diversions.
With three major processions scheduled for August 26, Karachi motorists are encouraged to check their routes before travelling and allow additional time for journeys.
The traffic plan is aimed at ensuring the smooth movement of processions while reducing disruption for residents, commuters and emergency traffic across Karachi.
