Karachi Traders Oppose Sindh Government’s No-Parking Plan in Saddar

Traders in Karachi have voiced strong opposition to the Sindh government’s proposed “no-parking” pilot project in Saddar, citing potential negative impacts on local businesses.

Rizwan Irfan, President of the Saddar Electronic Market, stated that the Deputy Commissioner informed him about plans to implement no-parking zones in Saddar and on Zaibunnisa Street. Traders argue that restricting parking in these commercial areas could reduce customer footfall and harm daily business operations.

The initiative is part of the provincial government’s broader effort to improve traffic flow and urban mobility in congested areas, but local merchants are urging authorities to reconsider or modify the plan to balance traffic management with business needs.

Market representatives have requested consultations with government officials to explore alternatives that maintain accessibility for customers while addressing traffic challenges in Saddar.
