Qasim Akram to lead Pakistan Shaheens in the Asian Games

The squad is led by emerging all-rounder Qasim Akram and includes eight senior internationals. The other players are Aamir Jamal, Arafat Minhas, Arshad Iqbal, Asif Ali, Haider Ali, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Akhlaq, Rohail Nazir, Shahnawaz Dahani, Sufiyan Muqeem, and Usman Qadir.

The Shaheens have been in good form recently, whitewashing Zimbabwe A in the two four-dayers and winning the Emerging Teams Asia Cup in Sri Lanka. They also finished as runners-up in the six-team Top End T20 Series in Darwin, Australia.

The Asian Games will be a tough competition, with India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh all in the mix. However, the Shaheens will be confident of their chances, having shown good form in recent months.

Pakistan won a bronze medal in their only previous appearance in the Asian Games, held in Guangzhou in 2010. They will be hoping to go one better this time around.
