Pakistan Navy Gets a Boost with Launch of First Hangor-Class Submarine

Karachi, Pakistan – The Pakistan Navy recently celebrated a major milestone with the launch of the first Hangor-class submarine built specifically for them. This marks a significant step forward in strengthening Pakistan’s maritime security and defense capabilities.

The ceremony, held at the Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group (WSIG) in Wuhan, China, was attended by dignitaries from both countries, including Pakistan’s Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf.

Admiral Ashraf spoke at the event, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a safe and secure maritime environment in the region. He highlighted how the Hangor-class submarines, equipped with advanced weapons and sensors, will be crucial for achieving this goal and ensuring regional peace.

Pakistan and China Deepen Partnership

This launch is a symbol of the growing partnership between Pakistan and China. The eight Hangor-class submarines are part of an agreement signed during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Pakistan. Four submarines will be built in China, while the remaining four will be constructed at Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works Ltd (KS&EW) in Pakistan, facilitating a transfer of technology and expertise.
