In a bid to boost foreign investment, Pakistan unveiled a revamped visa policy today. Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, spearheading the initiative, emphasized the importance of “opening up to the world” to attract investors and strengthen trade ties.
“Visa is the cornerstone of economic relationships,” he stated, expressing confidence that the Interior Ministry will continue refining the policy for optimal impact.
This move builds on previous efforts, like the September announcement of a simplified visa process for foreign business travelers. Under the new regime, visas will be granted based on a single document issued by either the visitor’s home country or international business organizations. Pakistani missions abroad will handle the streamlined process, aiming to make Pakistan a truly “open for business” destination.
Further simplifying the landscape, visas will also be readily available to foreign businessmen endorsed by Pakistani chambers of commerce or business organizations. This opens the door for mid-sized and large businesses to engage with international partners more easily.
Prime Minister Kakar expressed optimism that this new visa regime will usher in a new era of economic growth and business opportunities for Pakistan.
